We have a number of procedures in place to ensure your child’s safety while at school.
It is important that these procedures are adhered to. In the case of an emergency it is imperative that we can do an accurate head count.
These include:
Student Absences
If your child will be late or not be attending school due to illness, medical appointments, holiday (see below for holidays or absences of more than 5 days) etc. please advise the school by one of the following methods:
If your child arrives at school after our start time of 8.55am they must sign with the Vistab screen in the school office, otherwise they are likely to be marked absent.
Enter the absence into the Hero App – Hero by LINC-ED or go.linc-ed.com – our preferred method
If the school has not heard from you a phone call or text will be made to you to ensure the safety of your child.
Illness
The Public Health Nurse advises that students need to stay away from school for 48 hours after the last symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting.
Students going on holiday or absent for more than 5 days
It is a Ministry requirement that absences or holidays of one week or more must be advised in writing or email. Please provide this to the school office prior to the absence and we will advise the teacher.
Students leaving during the day
If you need to collect your child during the day, or they need to leave early, to attend a medical appointment etc., please go to the school office first and sign the student out on the Vistab screen. You will be given a blue slip which authorises the teacher to release your child.
If your child returns to school after the appointment, they need to sign back in on the Vistab screen at the school office before going to class.
Messages for your child
If you need to get a message to your child regarding a change in after school arrangements, please phone the school office and the message will be passed on to your child via the afternoon notice deliveries to classes. We would appreciate if you would contact us before 2.30pm, however we will endeavour to get all messages to your child.
It is important that these procedures are adhered to. In the case of an emergency it is imperative that we can do an accurate head count.
